CCHC’s 3rd Annual Back to School Health & Wellness Event – Celebrating National Health Center Week!

For 3 years in a row, CCHC has successfully hosted a community Back to School Health & Wellness Event! This year’s event took place on Saturday, August 18th at the Pacific Park & Community Center in Glendale, California. The event was hosted to celebrate National Health Center Week (NHCW), with August 18th being NHCW’s Children’s Health Day. And what other day than this could have been more perfect for providing children with an opportunity to get preventative health screenings and school supplies before heading back to school for a new school year.

To host this great event, CCHC partnered with LA Care Health Plan and the City of Glendale, along with several partners to provide FREE fully stocked backpacks and essential school supplies to almost 700 kindergarten, elementary and high school students.Over 1100 children and adults attended the event. Various community partners worked with CCHC to make this event a huge success, by providing essential health resources and educational materials to all who attended.

On  behalf of CCHC, thank you  to our community partners, sponsors and volunteers. We greatly appreciate your support!

Health Screenings

At CCHC, our mission is to ensure the health and wellness of each individual we serve. Thanks to the support of our nursing volunteers from Community Enhancement Services (CES) College – Nursing Program, we were able to provide over 230 children and adults with free dental and vision screenings during the event.

Fun is in the Air

At the event, plenty of entertainment was provided such as free carnival games, rock climbing, face painting, food, music, and a photo booth. Children were also able to engage with games sponsored by Blue Shield Health Plan such as hula-hoops, soccer shootout, and beanbag tosses.  And to beat the summer heat, refreshments, popsicles and snacks were offered at the event for free. In addition, KBUE – Que Buena 105.5FM radio station gave away awesome prizes and gifts and raffled off prizes throughout the event. Participants received resources and information from over 20 social service and non-for profit organizations serving Glendale and surrounding communities.
